Copy a Shared Dive

If you dived with a buddy and they shared the dive with you, you can copy it into your own dive log instead of typing it all again.

Before you start

  • You and the other diver must be buddies in DiveHub.
  • Your buddy must have shared the dive with you. They choose this when they create or edit the dive.

Copy a dive

  1. Open Shared dives from the Dives menu.
  2. Select the dive you want to copy.
  3. Choose Copy to my dives.
  4. The Create dive page opens with the shared details filled in. Check them and change anything you want.
  5. Save the dive. You are taken to your new dive.

Nothing is added to your log until you save. If you leave the page, no dive is created.

Good to know

  • You can change everything. The shared values are only a starting point. What you save is your own record.
  • Your copy is independent. If your buddy edits, unshares or deletes their dive later, your copy does not change. Saving a copy never changes their dive.
  • Importing your own file. If the copy includes a dive profile and you import your own dive computer file before saving, your file's profile replaces the shared one. The two are never mixed.
  • Your plan's limits apply. A copy counts as a new dive, so any dive limit on your plan applies as normal.
  • Dive site missing. If the dive site is no longer available, choose a dive site yourself.
  • Copying twice. Shared dives you have already copied are marked Copied. You can open your copy from the dive, and DiveHub asks you to confirm before you start another.
  • Share withdrawn. If your buddy stops sharing the dive before you save, DiveHub cannot save the copy. You can log a blank dive instead.
  • Your own dives. The Copy to my dives action only appears on dives shared with you.

See What gets copied for the fields filled in at each sharing level.
