DL7 Format

DL7 is a proprietary file format developed by Suunto for storing dive computer data. If you own a Suunto dive computer you will likely have dive logs saved as .dl7 files after downloading them with Suunto's desktop software (Suunto DM5).

File extension

Files in this format use the .dl7 extension — for example, my_dive.dl7.

What is inside a DL7 file?

A DL7 file contains everything your Suunto dive computer recorded during a dive:

  • Dive profile (depth over time, sampled every few seconds)
  • Maximum depth and bottom time
  • Water temperature at depth
  • Tank pressure (on supported models)
  • Decompression information and safety stops

The format is binary and specific to Suunto — it is not designed to be opened by other dive log software without a converter.

Which dive computers use DL7?
