Exporting Dives from Suunto DM5

Suunto dive computers that connect over USB — including the D4, D4i, D4i Novo, D5, D6, D6i, D9, D9tx, DX, EON Steel, EON Core, Zoop, Vyper, Vyper2, Vyper Air, Vytec, Vytec DS, Cobra, Cobra2, Cobra3, and HelO2 — use the Suunto DM5 desktop app to download and manage your dive log. DM5 can export your dives as a DAN DL7 file, which DiveHub can import directly.

Before you start

Download DM5 from Suunto if you don't already have it, and connect your dive computer with the USB interface cable so your dives are stored in your DM5 dive log.

Export steps

  1. Open Suunto DM5 and go to your dive log list.
  2. Select the dive you want to export. Hold Shift or Ctrl/Cmd to select several dives at once.
  3. Open the File menu and choose Export.
  4. DM5 offers several export formats — choose DAN DL7. (DM5 also offers PDF, SDE, XML, and SML, but these are not supported by DiveHub.)
  5. Save the exported file somewhere easy to find, such as your desktop or downloads folder.

Importing into DiveHub

Once you have a .dl7 file saved:

  1. Open DiveHub and tap Add Dive on the Dives tab.
  2. Tap Import file and select the file you exported from DM5.
  3. DiveHub reads the file and pre-fills the dive details it finds — depth, time, temperature, and profile data.
  4. Fill in any details DM5 doesn't record, such as the Dive Site name.
  5. Tap Save.

Newer Suunto watches

Suunto dive computers that sync over Bluetooth through the Suunto mobile app, such as the Suunto Ocean, don't currently offer a DL7 or UDDF export from the app. If your dive computer also works with DM5 over USB, use the steps above instead.
