Importing a Shearwater XML File

Shearwater Cloud can export your dives as Shearwater XML, the app's own native dive log format. DiveHub can import these .xml files directly, so you don't need to convert them to UDDF or DL7 first.

Before you start

Export from the Shearwater Cloud desktop app (Mac or Windows) rather than the mobile app — exporting individual dive files is currently only available on desktop. Make sure your dives have already been synced from your dive computer or from the Shearwater Cloud mobile app into your desktop account.

Export steps

  1. Open Shearwater Cloud on your desktop and go to your dive log list.
  2. Select the dive you want to export. You can hold Shift or Ctrl/Cmd to select several dives at once.
  3. Open the File menu and choose Export.
  4. Choose Shearwater XML from the list of export formats.
  5. Save the exported file somewhere easy to find, such as your desktop or downloads folder.

Importing into DiveHub

  1. Open DiveHub and tap Add Dive on the Dives tab.
  2. Tap Import file and select the .xml file you exported from Shearwater Cloud.
  3. DiveHub reads the file and pre-fills the dive details it finds — dive number, date, depth, time, temperature, gas, dive computer details, and profile data.
  4. Fill in any details Shearwater Cloud doesn't record, such as the Dive Site name. Anything you have already entered by hand is kept.
  5. Tap Save.

Tips

  • UDDF files also use the .xml extension. DiveHub checks the contents of the file, so you can select either kind of .xml file and it will be read correctly.
  • If DiveHub can't read the file, you'll see an error message. You can continue logging the dive manually or try exporting again.
