Exporting Dives from Mares

Mares dive computers store your dives on the computer itself. To get them into DiveHub you need a UDDF file, an open dive log format that DiveHub can import. Which tool you use depends on your computer and your operating system.

Tool Works on Exports UDDF?
Mares Dive Organizer Windows Yes (version 2.17 and later)
Subsurface (free, open source) Windows, macOS, Linux Yes
Mares App (iOS and Android) Phone or tablet No, it has no export option

If you only use the Mares App, install Subsurface or Dive Organizer on a computer and download your dives from there.

Which Mares computers can I export from?

Subsurface can download dives from these Mares dive computers:

  • Smart, Smart Air and Smart Apnea
  • Puck Pro, Puck Pro +, Puck 2, Puck 4, Puck Air 2, Puck Lite, Puck Pro EZ and Puck Pro Ultra
  • Quad, Quad Air, Quad Ci and Quad 2
  • Genius, Horizon, Sirius and Sirius L
  • Icon HD, Icon HD Net Ready, Matrix and Nemo Wide 2
  • Older models such as the Puck, Puck Air, Nemo, Nemo Air, Nemo Wide, Darwin, M1, M2 and Airlab

The connection depends on the model: some use a USB interface cable, some use Bluetooth, and some support both. The Mares Bluelink Pro interface adds Bluetooth to computers that don't have it built in.

Option 1: Mares Dive Organizer (Windows)

Dive Organizer is Mares' own Windows software for downloading and managing dives.

  1. Install Dive Organizer and connect your dive computer using its USB interface.
  2. Download your dives into Dive Organizer.
  3. Use Dive Organizer's export feature and choose the UDDF format. UDDF export was added in version 2.17, so update Dive Organizer if you don't see it.
  4. Save the .uddf file somewhere easy to find.

Option 2: Subsurface (Windows, macOS, Linux)

  1. Download and install Subsurface.
  2. Connect your dive computer, or pair it over Bluetooth if it supports it.
  3. Open File, then Import, then Import from dive computer.
  4. Choose Mares as the vendor and your model as the dive computer, then select Download.
  5. When the dives appear in the Subsurface dive list, open File, then Export, choose UDDF and save the file.

If Subsurface can't find your computer, check that the USB interface or Bluetooth connection is working and that the computer is in its transfer mode, as described in your Mares manual.

Importing into DiveHub

  1. Open DiveHub and tap Add Dive on the Dives tab.
  2. Tap Import file and select your .uddf file.
  3. DiveHub reads the file and pre-fills the dive details it finds, such as depth, time, temperature and profile data.
  4. Fill in any details your Mares computer doesn't record, such as the Dive Site name.
  5. Tap Save.

DiveHub imports one dive at a time. Repeat the steps for each dive you want to bring across. See Importing Dives for more detail and UDDF Format for what the format contains.

Troubleshooting

Can I export dives from the Mares App? Not currently. The Mares App shows and stores your dives but has no UDDF or file export. Use Dive Organizer or Subsurface instead.

My Mares computer isn't listed in Subsurface. Try the closest model in the same range, then check the import for missing dives. Newer computers are added to Subsurface as support for them is released.

Dive Organizer won't open on my Mac. Dive Organizer is Windows only. Use Subsurface on macOS.
